How many times a day do you have to change clothes and/or wash yourself (without significant physical activity) because of sweating? How much does sweating of your hands and feet interfere with your daily life?
Up to 3% of people suffer from hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. The problem usually starts in childhood or adolescence, occurring more often on the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet or under the armpits. The cause of excessive fluid secretion is a functional disorder of the body's internal secretion, nervous and other systems. Sweating over the whole body is more likely to occur later in life and the cause may be physical or psychological.
Treatment depends on the cause, the form and the area.
If external means to limit sweating do not work, one possible solution is anti-hyperhidrosis botulinum injections, which temporarily block the nerve transmission to the sweat glands. The antiperspirant effect lasts 4-6 months.
